I have another of my subtle prints to share today. The fabric came from Mood online. I’m not pandering… much. I bought it in June! Anyway, it’s a straightforward jersey, 100% cotton, light- to mid-weight, stable. (Miss Lulu, have I remedied that neutral wardrobe thing to your satisfaction??)
Yes indeed, it’s another Renfrew. I can’t help it! While I’ve come to appreciate – even enjoy — the paper-alteration part of the sewing process, it generally is so time-consuming for me that I can’t resist the urge to crank out a couple more once I’ve gotten (most of) it right. Especially such a great everyday pattern like this one. And there will definitely be more — I haven’t even tried the cowl yet.
Something funky happened with this one… the shoulders somehow ended up too narrow. Maybe this fabric had less stretch than the others, or maybe some other tweak I made affected the shoulders? Oh, I bet it’s the neckline change! The binding-finished scoop likely had less give than the v neckband. So the tweaking continues…
I like the bands in the original design, but this time I changed it up a bit by doing a 3/8″ binding at the neckline and sleeve hems instead. See how I do little things to keep myself interested when I make the same pattern over and over again? Clearly I need to, since I use such boring fabric. :-)
Finally, a submission for Beautifully Imperfect Stitching. Stitching binding in-the-ditch is patently not invisible with such multicolor fabric…
